Timber Cove Inn was a popular vacation spot in the 70s and 80s, primarily because of its excellent location and great amenities that guests truly enjoyed. Now, under its new owner, the iconic resort once again promises to be the place to go to, with the current modernization and enhancement process being handled by construction experts, including AXIS Architecture + Design, an architect in San Francisco.
"Hotels that invest in enhancing the guest experience will enjoy a competitive advantage," Cory Creath of AXIS Architecture + Design said. "Timber Cove Inn's location is ideal for anyone but particularly for Bay Area residents looking for a tranquil getaway."
As architects and designers who specialize in transforming underperforming assets, the team at AXIS Architecture + Design, led by Creath and Shawn Alexander, both principals of the architectural firm in San Francisco, understood that Timber Cove Inn had great bones and a solution that called for simple enhancements.
The design will maintain the rustic exterior of the building that was built in the late 60s using timber harvested on the rugged north Sonoma coast. The remodeled guest rooms, however, will be upgraded to feature all new finishes and fixtures throughout, with a warm and inviting color palette. The signature design feature is the four-fixture bathroom with glass-enclosed showers and sliding panels that open to the guest room and the magnificent ocean views. The design flexibly provides for either privacy or openness depending on guest preference.
"We sought to keep the focus on the incredible views of the rugged northern California coastline," Creath said.
Phase one consists of fully remodeling 10 out of the 50 guest rooms and providing upgrades for disabled access. Construction of the two model rooms is now complete, with the remaining phase one rooms to be completed in the next six months.
Working with Axis Architecture + Design are Design Atelier for interior design, Adobe & Associates for civil engineering, ZFA for structural engineering and RD Olson for construction.
