Everblue now accepts training grants, funded by the economic stimulus package, awarded to residents of North Carolina to completely cover the cost of qualified courses.

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) authorized $190 million nationwide, $1.7 million in North Carolina, for students looking to update their current knowledge or gain new skills related to the green industry.

“Everblue will offer the courses eligible for this specialized grant to everyone, both employed and unemployed workers,” said Cadi Saunders, the manager of business development at Everblue. “[The grant] allows students to take classes from the nation’s premier sustainability training provider at no cost, which equates to receiving a top-notch education you can’t get anywhere else, for free.”

The State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) training grants were designed to highlight the “important role states play in building a national green economy” by investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. According to the synopsis, the main goal of the grant funding is to develop a statewide energy sector strategy through comprehensive partnerships, which would eventually create new jobs in these industries.

“We are seeing lots of students taking advantage of this great opportunity,” said Steve Alfaro, manager of customer support. “Not only does it make a student competitive in the sustainability industry, but [he/she] can take courses from the leading educator.”

The programs available through this grant include renewable energy, energy efficiency, green building, and materials reuse and deconstruction. Students in many of Everblue’s locations, which include more than 100 cities and seven countries worldwide, are eligible for grant funding.

North Carolina residents can learn more about grant availability through the Training Opportunities page at Everblue and apply for funding by either calling Bill Klotz at (847) 376-0975 or emailing him at bklotz (at) everblue (dot) edu
