An experienced self-employed copywriter for many major Fortune 500 companies is offering a free resume service to unemployed Americans. John Mora, an award-winning marketing copywriter and book author based near Chicago, Illinois, is offering a set amount of his time each business day for the next month to help unemployed Americans get their resumes in tip-top shape.
Beginning Monday, April 20, 2009, unemployed individuals needing help writing and formatting their resume are invited to submit their information to a special email address. Out of all submissions, one person will be randomly selected to have their resume written, polished and formatted by Mr. Mora on the following business day.
"I've been a self-employed copywriter for nearly twenty years, and have been fortunate enough to ride out several economic downturns," Mr. Mora says. "But, with the severity of the current crisis, I felt I had to do something. Given my writing talent and word processing skills, this allows me to use my experience to assist Americans who may need a little help with their resume."
Winning recipients will have their information or current resume assessed, written and formatted electronically in a standard Microsoft Word template, free of charge. Email and phone consultation may be necessary, so individuals are encouraged to be available the day following their email submission. In addition, this free service is intended only for unemployed Americans that lack the writing skills or word processing expertise to create a professional-looking resume.
"I want to help those that need help the most and I'm only one person, so I'm asking all those thinking of submitting an entry to honestly assess whether they have the skills or resources to do this on their own," Mr. Mora says. "We all have a unique skill or talent. I think if each one of us uses his or her gifts to help each other through this crisis, we can come out of it a lot faster and maybe even stronger."
To submit entries, send your resume information to: 1freeresumeaday(at)gmail.com. Please submit only one entry per business day. However, entries on subsequent days are allowed.
