In 2006, http://www.Frenchluggage.com was purchased by Hawthorne Leather Goods, a luxury leather goods manufacturer in Los Angeles. In honor of the luxury luggage brand's strong heritage and history, the luxury luggage line was recently re-launched as French 1946.

The new luggage collections from http://www.French1946.com successfully debuted this past July at the Chicago Travel Goods Show and amazed luggage industry veterans with exquisite design and attention to detail.

For over 60 years, French 1946 defined elegant travel as America's premier luxury luggage brand. French 1946 has been a celebrity luggage brand of choice; from Henry Kissinger to Elizabeth Taylor.
Once owned by Louis Vuitton, French 1946 luggage graced the shelves of luxury department stores such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman. These strong relationships followed French 1946 luggage throughout its history, adding to its legacy.

In a 1969 letter to French Luggage, Stanley Marcus, co-founder of Neiman Marcus said, "Too few manufacturers today are concerned about quality maintenance, but knowing you and the long tradition of quality manufacturing behind you, I am confident that you will always take the time and effort to make the best!
