Richard Borders has launched his Fresh Coat Painters franchise to serve residents and business owners of Lexington, Ky., and its surrounding communities.
For Borders, his new business answered a desire for a level of professionalism without the structure of the “corporate grind” where he had worked for nearly two decades dealing with the ups and downs of the balance sheets in various financial roles.
“I’ve spent the last year or so evaluating franchises,” he said. “What I found was that in most cases the costs were too high to get started because the business required you to buy expensive equipment, lease or buy lots of land, and build or renovate a structure.”
