Portland, Ore., natives Randy and Renee Ramos have launched their Fresh Coat Painters franchise to serve business and residential clients in Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Lake Oswego, West Linn and other surrounding communities.
For the Ramoses, the painting franchise allowed them to expand their home services offerings without the hassle of the usual start-up processes.
“I’m a member of the electrical union, and I already have a contractor’s license,” Randy said, “but I don’t want to have all my eggs in one basket.

Randy and Renee learned at the feet of their parents about the importance of balancing hard work with solid family support. Randy’s father died when he was young, and his mother took on the challenge of supporting him and his sister. Renee’s father bought his first rental property right out of high school and continued to care for multiple properties well into his 70s.
“Through it all, we had a wonderful home, and Dad always made time for us kids,” Renee said. “I feel much the same way. I love my work, and I enjoy spending time with the kids.”
Randy mirrored that sentiment. “I guess you could say our hobbies are our work.”
The couple married in 2007 and between them, they have three children: Randy’s two sons, ages 11 and 12, and Renee’s daughter, age 13. All three are active in sports.
“Her daughter plays volleyball year-round,” Randy said, “and the boys are into basketball, football and lacrosse.”
“It’s important that we’re able to spend time with them and support their interests,” Renee said. “We don’t want to miss out on those types of things.”
