Our business model promotes a much more professional approach to the painting industry, and entrepreneurs like Brian can understand and relate to that professionalism.

As a former project manager and estimator for a drywall company, Brian Lippoldt is already familiar with what it takes to succeed in the home improvement industry. Now the Wichita resident is taking his tape measure and shifting gears as he launches his new Fresh Coat Painters franchise in the Wichita, Kansas, area.
Lippoldt and his wife, Ginger, knew they wanted to go into business for themselves and had researched franchise options for years, but kept coming back to the possibilities open to them as owners of a Fresh Coat Painters franchise.
“It just seemed like a good fit for us,” Lippoldt said. “We already had many of the contacts that we needed because of my previous experience in the industry. It felt like the right thing to do.”
Bernard Brozek, president of Fresh Coat, said many franchise owners log long hours on the computer researching franchise ventures, but ultimately choose to purchase a Fresh Coat franchise because of its unique and effective business model.
“Our business model promotes a much more professional approach to the painting industry, and entrepreneurs like Brian can understand and relate to that professionalism,” he said. “We endeavor to complement our owners’ inherent abilities with solid training, marketing and resource materials to ensure their long-term success. With our structure, clients get the best skills of all involved from their first phone call throughout the project and into the follow-up.”
Prospective clients often complain of unscrupulous operators, as evidenced by no-shows, unfinished projects or sloppy work. Such grievances have lowered the painting industry’s reputation, Brozek said, but Fresh Coat’s motto of “Painting Done Right” is a testament to the company’s unflagging professionalism.
Fresh Coat owners hire their own painters and never use sub-contractors, resulting in better support for the painters and superior service for clients. After posting an online advertisement, Lippoldt said he received a multitude of interview requests. With those now completed, he’s hired a number of experienced painting professionals and already fulfilled his first job. Thanks to this framework of hiring experienced painters, owners can spend their time growing and promoting their business and don’t need to pick up a paint brush, an advantage Lippoldt appreciates.
“I’m much better at overseeing,” he said, laughing.
His research showed that there was no well-established painting company in town, Lippoldt said, giving him an opportunity to make Fresh Coat the region’s painting company of choice.
“Right now we’re just trying to get the brand out there, to those who haven’t seen it before,” he said. “Whether it’s a small job, or a big one, there are definitely customers who need professional painting services. I really feel like there’s a niche, an open opportunity for us.”
Lippoldt is using his professional contacts in networking groups to spread the word about Fresh Coat. As an additional marketing tool, simply driving around town will help get the word out – his truck is freshly wrapped with the Fresh Coat logo.
Fresh Coat owners have a range of corporate offerings that support their clients and make the process smoother, including a 24/7 call center, proprietary EPIC estimating system, Paint Now-Pay Later same-as-cash financing, Automatic Touch-Up for businesses, and fund-raising opportunities for charities.
Lippoldt said that while Fresh Coat provides for a solid business opportunity, it also fits well into his family life. For the time being, Ginger will remain at her regular job and assist with the Fresh Coat business where she can on a part-time basis while also tending to the family.
With three children, Lippoldt said, it’s important to strive for success for the entire family. “This is actually the biggest reason we went into business for ourselves – it’s to have more control over our own destiny.”
