“This anniversary is a very special event,” said Dave Van Kampen, president and COO of Best Chicago Meat Co., the parent company of Glenmark. “We want our vans to reach a lot of people, and we’re giving away samples of juicy, flavorful Glenmark burgers."

Glenmark, which has the distinction of being the first individually quick frozen (IQF) burger developed for home use, is celebrating 40 years during the months of July and August.

Proudly made in Chicago for four decades, Glenmark products use 100 percent USDA beef, and each Glenmark burger is individually quick frozen to ensure optimum freshness and flavor. Glenmark burgers are intended to fry or grill directly from the freezer. There is no need to thaw the product.

Consumers can enter a Sweepstakes drawing titled, “Get Your Grill On & Keep it On All Year!” Two lucky winners will receive a Weber Gas Grill (Genesis E-310) which retails for $700. Eight winners (one drawn per week) will receive free Glenmark burgers for a year, and everyone who enters will receive a high-value coupon.

In addition, consumers who send a photo of their “Glenmark Celebration BBQ” for posting on the Glenmark Facebook page will receive a high-value coupon for Glenmark burgers.

During the July and August celebration, Glenmark vans will be out and about at retailers around Chicago and its suburbs to set up grilling stations, so people can sample the Glenmark products. Coupons, mini squishy burgers and Glenmark 40th anniversary cupcakes will be given away.

“This anniversary is a very special event at our company,” said Dave Van Kampen, president and COO of Best Chicago Meat Co., the parent company of Glenmark. “We want our vans to reach a lot of people, and we’re excited to give away samples of juicy, flavorful Glenmark burgers.”

For the anniversary, Best Chicago Meat is introducing three new products under the Glenmark Premier Label line. The new Glenmark Premier Label line includes:

  •     Angus Beef Chuck - 1/3 pound burgers
  •     Angus Mini Burgers – 2 oz. burgers
  •     All White Meat Turkey Patties – 1/3 pound burgers that are 94 percent lean

Glenmark’s Classic Line boasts four decades of success. It includes:

  •     Steak Eater’s burgers, restaurant-style – ¼ pound of 100 percent USDA beef
  •     Cookout burgers – 1/3 pound of 100 percent USDA beef
  •     Great Grillsby Patties – ¼ pound of USDA beef, soy and a special mild seasoning making these burgers a value-priced alternative to all-beef burgers.

“Like all our products, Glenmark burgers are made right here in Chicago under our rigorous quality control standards,” Van Kampen said.

Originally owned by OSI, the Glenmark IQF burger was first developed in the early 1970s. In 1999, Best Chicago Meat Co. entered into a licensing agreement to produce and market the Glenmark brand of retail frozen hamburgers. By the spring of 2007, demand for Glenmark and other products resulted in opening a new state-of-the-art neighborhood manufacturing facility located on Chicago's northwest side. In Dec., 2011, Best Chicago Meat Co., LLC, acquired the Glenmark® brand.

“The ownership of the brand makes our company one of the leading frozen burger producers in the Midwest, and we’re really proud of that,” Van Kampen said. “We bring Glenmark an unparalleled level of quality while maintaining a good value for our customers.”

Currently, Best Chicago Meat Co. produces ground beef, sausage, hot dogs and specialty sausages under the brands Glenmark, Jemm and Moo & Oink.

Commitment to customers goes well beyond delicious products, impeccably clean facilities and the highest standards in food safety. The Best Chicago Meat Co. is proud to manufacture in a Chicago neighborhood setting and operates under a strict policy of energy conservation and waste reduction.

In addition, the company is committed to the communities served by actively searching out and supporting activities such as youth sports programs, community events and local and regional festivals.
