Winter Park, FL (PRWEB) November 17, 2009 -- Full Sail University (www.fullsail.edu), an award-winning entertainment media institution, is proud to recognize online graduate, Anthony Armstrong, who was recently named as a member of The George Lucas Educational Foundation's National Advisory Council.

As a graduate of Full Sail University's Education Media Design & Technology Master of Science Online Degree Program, which is designed to give educators the tools to bridge the gap between traditional education and the ever-expanding realm of technology and media, Armstrong created a digital model that would employ a database (wikis) of pages with the ability to be edited live, into the curriculum of a one-to-one social studies classroom.
Also, while teaching overseas at the Korea International School, Armstrong devised a project that educated students in the area of innovative Web technologies and digitally offered a cultural exchange between students in the United States and South Korea. Currently, Armstrong is an Apple Distinguished Educator at Del Mar Middle School in Tiburon, California, where he teaches U.S. history at the eighth-grade level.
"Having the ability to educate our students to employ the skills necessary to implement technology in the classroom, thereby transforming these students into innovative educators, is a core principle of Full Sail's Education Media Design & Technology Master of Science Online Degree Program," said Dr. Holly Ludgate, Program Director of Education Media Design & Technology. "We are honored that a member of Full Sail's alumni has been named as a member of the National Advisory Council and we wish him continued success in the future."
The National Advisory Council aids The Foundation by ensuring that the content provided to its audience, through the various outlets of Edutopia (www.edutopia.org), a resource that highlights success stories in education, is both current and based on quality research. This is done by recommending valuable examples of projects or individuals that might be featured, and providing context on the intricacy of a particular issue, thus reinforcing Edutopia's relevance and accuracy.
"Full Sail University sets the standard of excellence on our campus and through our online degree programs by providing a truly unique learning environment equipped with the tools that facilitates education through inspiration," said Nell Thompson, Vice President of Academic Affairs for Full Sail University. "We are proud of the skills and knowledge base that Anthony has gained from being a member of our online student community, and we are honored to celebrate this tremendous achievement with him as he continues on his journey as a successful educator."
