Uniformed officers from the Vernon Hills Police Department served Tom & Eddie’s customers on Saturday, Sept. 1, as part of a fundraiser titled, “Burgers & Badges,” at Tom & Eddie’s Vernon Hills, 1260 S. Milwaukee Ave.

Tom & Eddie’s raised $2,500 for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics Illinois, which includes 10% of Tom & Eddie’s net sales for the day.

In addition, Sept. 1 was the first anniversary for the Vernon Hills location. In celebration, a magician entertained diners in Vernon Hills, all locations offered customers double loyalty points on Tom & Eddie’s Loyalty Cards and a free birthday entrée was provided to anyone whose birthday was Sept. 1.

On the same day, raffle tickets were sold to win a 2013 Harley-Davidson. In October, six winners’ names will be drawn, and the six will be invited to Special Olympics headquarters in Bloomington, IL, where each will be given a key. Only one key will start the Harley. The other five winners will receive 50-inch big screen TVs worth $1,000 each.
