In these challenging economic times, donors are looking for alternative ways to give, and unused gift cards represent a form of 'found money.' Our partnership with Plastic Jungle allows us to help nonprofits see the potential of targeting unused gift cards as a new source of funds.

Santa Barbara, CA (PRWEB) October 6, 2009

givezooks! Inc. today announced it has entered into a partnership with Plastic Jungle, Inc., the most-visited online destination to sell, buy, exchange and donate gift cards in a trusted environment.

Through the agreement, givezooks! will expand the payment options incorporated in its social fundraising platform for nonprofit customers, enabling nonprofits to accept donated gift cards as a payment option for fundraising campaigns.

"The new gift card capability added by givezooks! is yet another way for our supporters to join us in our vision to support our youth in achieving their dreams," said Nina Magsaysay Rosete, executive director of Monterey, California-based Dare to Dream Fund. "givezooks! provides new, creative and easy-to-use ways to engage and diversify our donor base. Enabling the donation of gift cards expands on that theme and is particularly timely as the holiday season brings the peak season for both gift card giving and donor giving."

"We estimate there are roughly $40 billion in unused, forgotten or unwanted gift cards in circulation," said Kristin Cunningham, director of marketing at Plastic Jungle (http://www.plasticjungle.com). "By raising awareness and making it easy and secure for donors to turn gift cards into contributions, nonprofits can access a tremendous, untapped pool of funds. givezooks!' innovative, social fundraising capabilities and Plastic Jungle's gift card marketplace present a winning combination for the nonprofit community."

"Nonprofits need to find ways to reach new audiences and engage with new donors, all while increasing funds raised," Carol Schrader, CEO at givezooks! "In these challenging economic times, donors are looking for alternative ways to give, and unused gift cards represent a form of 'found money.' Our partnership with Plastic Jungle allows us to help nonprofits see the potential of targeting unused gift cards as a new source of funds."

How It Works--The Donor Experience
While opening the door to a new avenue of giving represented by gift cards, nonprofit organizations can rest assured that the giving experience is simple and secure for their donors. First, the nonprofit establishes a branded fundraising Campaign or Wish List online. In response to the nonprofit's online campaign outreach (powered by givezooks!), the donor pledges a gift card. On behalf of the nonprofit, givezooks! automatically generates a Thank You message and an email explaining how to complete the donation. The donor then sends the gift card to Plastic Jungle, which processes the card and distributes up to 85% of the verified card balance to the nonprofit. Upon completion of the process, a letter of Tax Receipt is sent to the donor by the nonprofit (via givezooks!). It's that simple!
