One Million Pictures Of One Million Food Bank Donations

Edmonton's Food Bank and fusedlogic are asking people to take pictures of their donations to food banks around the world and post a picture of them making the donation to their Flickr or Facebook group. Their goal is one million pictures of one million food bank donations.

Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) December 15, 2008 -- In an effort to increase food bank donations around the world, Edmonton's Food Bank and fusedlogic, a social media strategy company, have teamed up to get one million pictures of one million food bank donations posted on the Internet by the end of December 2009.

"We hope that this campaign will bring attention to the needs of Edmonton's Food Bank, to food banks around the world and the people they serve."

Using social media is a great way to promote worthy causes and Walter Schwabe, fusedlogic chief evolution officer, thought it would be helpful to contribute his team's resources to the food bank at a time when they are busiest.

Bencz hopes that this social media campaign will be an effective learning tool, not only for her organization but that of rural food banks and non-profits alike.

In operation since 1981, Edmonton's Food Bank distributes food to approximately 10,500 Edmontonians per month. Edmonton's Food Bank is affiliated with more than 160 groups around Edmonton that help to feed the hungry. The Food Bank also helps to serve more than 250,000 meals and snacks per month. A large portion of the Food Bank's clients are children, with children under 18 forming 40 per cent of the Food Bank's clientele.
