The Galapagos Islands are so breathtakingly beautiful and by staying on land instead of a boat we really got to soak up the best of all the islands visited and support the local economy more.
Queenstown, New Zealand (PRWEB) November 30, 2012
Keen amateur photographers have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand their travel and wildlife photography skills and be inspired to take their hobby or career to the next level in one of the most visually stunning places on Earth. Active Adventures has announced a special departure of “The Tortuga”, their Galapagos adventure tours, adapted for photo enthusiasts. The May 17-28, 2013 trip combines daily hands-on photography workshops, led by award-winning National Geographic photographers Ivan Kashinsky and Karla Gachet, with activities such as hiking, snorkelling and biking timed to take full advantage of the natural light.
This personal and unique tour of the Galapagos Islands includes hiking up Sierra Negra Volcano on Isabela Island for stunning views of the archipelago, snorkelling or diving near Floreana Island and Kicker Rock with friendly sea lions and sea turtles, cycling down to the beach from the highlands of Santa Cruz Island after visiting the Galapagos giant tortoises in their natural habitat as well as sunrise and sunset activities. This land-based tour allows participants plenty of opportunities to capture scenes of daily life in the Galapagos and experience the local hospitality while staying on the islands each night.
Trip Leaders Ivan and Karla will provide one-on-one time, photo critiquing and advice on different aspects of photography while presenting a daily challenge to help participants complete a project to share with the rest of your group. Nightly recaps and photography chats to gain a deeper understanding of personal shooting styles and preferences will round out the days.
Trip starts in Quito on May 17th, 2013, and ends in Quito on May 28th. Space is limited to fifteen on this special departure for an all-inclusive rate of US$5545 per person (twin share, which means you’ll be paired with a roommate) with a single room upgrade available for an additional US$300.
“Trip of a lifetime! The Galapagos Islands are so breathtakingly beautiful and by staying on land instead of a boat we really got to soak up the best of all the islands visited and support the local economy more. We were impressed by both the accommodations and the food that was included in the tour. The included activities were also great, we got to visit all the highlights of each island and see tons of wildlife but we still had plenty of free time to do our own thing,” said Jeremy and Danielle Fay (of Snohomish, WA) of their “Tortuga” trip with Active Adventures in October.
