Gannett Selects Cozi as Innovation Partner, Offering New Online
Service for Today’s Busy Families
Cozi’s Popular Family Organization
Software Localized in Gannett Markets Across the Country
SEATTLE (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) February 26, 2008 --
Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) and Cozi Group, Inc. announced today a
strategic partnership to offer localized editions of Cozi’s
popular organizational software for families in Gannett markets across
the United States. Cozi (www.cozi.com)
is a free online service that helps families manage, coordinate and, as
a result, enjoy their ever-busier lives. Gannett is a leading
international news and information company that publishes 85 daily
newspapers and operates 23 television stations in the U.S. Local,
co-branded versions of the Cozi service will be offered in Gannett
markets this spring.
Through the Cozi partnership, Gannett’s local
affiliates will offer their readers an online service that will enable
families to manage busy schedules through a central family calendar,
track shopping and to-do lists, share information, and stay in
communication. The co-branded service will incorporate local content,
information, and schedules from Gannett’s
newspapers and Web sites to help families more easily manage calendars
and plan activities. In turn, Cozi will increase its national footprint
through Gannett’s extensive U.S. network of
daily newspapers, regional publications, TV stations and local websites.
“Cozi brings unprecedented value to busy
families and in turn helps our business partners connect with families
in a whole new way,” said Robbie Cape,
co-founder and chief executive officer, Cozi. “Gannett
is one of the most respected media companies in the world, with an
incredible ability to reach families in the communities in which they
operate. This alliance will enable us, together with Gannett, to deliver
on the promise of simplifying family life and providing an experience
that compels families to welcome Cozi into the center of their daily
routine.”
Sustaining a uniquely close relationship with its readership, Gannett’s
local newspapers and websites reach on average 75% of all adults in
their local markets each week. The company’s
broadcast outlets reach nearly 20 million households. Together, Gannett’s
operations serve as vital touch points for the communities they serve.
“Gannett’s local
affiliates have deep roots in their communities that transcend the daily
publication or news broadcast. Our audiences increasingly turn to us not
only for news and information, but also to provide new, inventive ways
to stay connected to their communities,” said
Michael Maness, vice president of design and innovation, Gannett. “Cozi
has built an incredibly useful solution for today’s
digital families that will be even more impactful when coupled with
Gannett’s local content and delivered to
families where they work, go to school and actually live their busy
lives.”
The partnership will kick-off with a launch of the co-branded Cozi
online service in three markets beginning in April, including
Westchester, N.Y. (The Journal News), Salem, Ore. (Statesman
Journal), and Des Moines, Iowa (The Des Moines Register).
