Dr. Garcia has 22 years of optical-engineering experience in the commercial, industrial, and aerospace markets on a wide range of optical-design and analysis projects. From automotive-lighting to zoom-lens designs, Garcia has supported engineering projects at companies large and small and as diverse as Eastman Kodak, TRW, Xerox Corporation, and BRO. He has previously held Senior Optical Engineer and Director of Engineering positions at BRO.
Returning to BRO as CEO, Garcia will lead the company's engineering, software, and training teams to meet the needs of clients in 35 countries. His technical and managerial capabilities, his familiarity with contract-engineering processes, and his ability to see the business value of technologies will serve clients moving their creative ideas through the design and manufacturing process.
According to Garcia, "I am very excited about re-joining the BRO team as CEO. BRO has a unique and special blend of highly capable people whose technical abilities and resources allow them to tackle a wide variety of challenging engineering projects."
"BRO has a tradition of customer satisfaction by providing clients with solutions that meet their requirements. I intend to build upon that tradition by expanding BRO's capability to offer clients software and training with emphasis on actual problem solving, and to provide turn-key engineering solutions," said Garcia.
According to Chairman Dr. Robert Breault, "We intend to leverage Kevin's technical background to strategically manage our talent - creating innovative engineering and software solutions with maximum competitive advantage for both BRO and our clients. Kevin is known throughout the optics industry as an innovator and a leader. We are confident exciting times lie ahead with him back on the BRO team."
Garcia brings to the CEO position expert knowledge of design and analysis software tools, including ZEMAX(R), FRED(TM), Rhinoceros(R), Mathematica(R), and BRO's own industry-standard Advanced Systems Analysis Program (ASAP(R)). He has given many optical tutorials, has over twenty published papers in trade and professional society journals, and is a recipient of seven U.S. patents, many of which have been granted equivalent foreign recognition.
Garcia's academic background includes undergraduate degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Bradley University, an MSEE in Optics and Quantum Electronics from the University of Southern California, and an MS and PhD in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona.
