Travelers have a multitude of options when it comes to deciding how and where to purchase travel. A knowledgeable travel consultant can simplify this process. Although it is not a requirement, continued education is important for travel agents to maintain an edge, creating unique and one-of-a-kind travel experiences for their clients. Gateway Destinations announces that owner Jan Acorn has attained the Certified Travel Associate (CTA) distinction from the The Travel Institute. This certification is well recognized by peers and suppliers within the travel industry.

“I feel it’s vital to stay abreast of the latest in destination and supplier product information to best serve my clients. I also feel it's important to continually look at ways to best communicate with my clients and deliver the information and the service they need. As a result, I take advantage of the numerous webinars that are available in the industry, regularly read pertinent publications and make first-hand visits. I view attaining my CTA as a step in continuing to expand my knowledge and client recognition in the industry.”

Gateway Destinations takes pride in always striving to create extraordinary adventures that are beyond client expectations. Whether it is a boutique hotel or local bilingual guide, Jan is always searching for new and exceptional suppliers. Much of that research is done in person. For example, she will be departing October 8, 2012 for southern France where she will spend six days exploring historical sites, vineyards, hotels, restaurants and more, as well as visiting local tourist boards.
