Gators and Friends Alligator Park and Exotic Zoo, located 10 minutes outside of Shreveport in Greenwood, Louisiana, opened up a zip line tour of the park on May 9.
On a recent family cruise, Jim Willet, owner of Gators and Friends Alligator Park and Exotic Zoo, took a zip line tour as part of the cruise package. “That cruise sparked the idea for me. I thought, ‘Why not put a zip line in Gators and Friends?’ I thought that was something that people would really be interested in,” said Willet.
In its first weekend, more than 30 visitors took the zip line tour. Since then, it has been an ever-popular addition to the park, piquing the interest of visitors, young and old. “The zip line is something that could be for the whole family and provides a whole new experience for visitors that they can’t get anywhere else,” said Willet.
The full-length zip line tour consists of seven segments that last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour that takes you through the woods, over the exotic animals and culminates in a final 720 feet side-by-side run over the alligators.
Half-length zip line tours are available and consist of four segments that last approximately 25 minutes. Not to worry though – it still takes you right over the alligators.
