Crude & Condensate Movements from Eagle Ford Shale Spikes Demand

Our comprehensive service offering has been contracted by many of our downstream customers. It is a natural extension of our services to offer it to our midstream and upstream customers as we expand our presence beyond terminals and refineries.

GEM Mobile Treatment Services Inc. (GEM) announces the launching of their Marine Loading Services. The service, originally rolled out during the summer of 2011 in support of crude movements, has been expanded this month to include a comprehensive approach to marine loading emissions management beyond vapor combustion.

As a direct result of the substantial quantities of petroleum crude and condensate moving from the Eagle Ford Shale Play to the Gulf of Mexico for marine shipment to regional refineries, GEM has been called upon to support the vapor control needs of various logistics firms. With a focus on environmental compliance and a local office in Corpus Christi, Texas, GEM has prided itself on the ability to respond quickly and safely to customers’ compliance needs. “We started to see demand pick up last summer,” commented Larry Prahin, GEM Gulf Coast General Manager. “The TCEQ and Coast Guard have been working with the marine loading companies in support of their environmental compliance initiatives. As a result, we have been very active by providing mobile thermal vapor combustors to control vapor emissions so they can continue their transfer activities.”

GEM has recently expanded the program to include emissions management consultation, vapor destruction data collection, and agency reporting. “Our comprehensive service offering has been contracted by many of our downstream customers,” said John Beale, GEM Vice President of Business Development. “It is a natural extension of our services to offer it to our midstream and upstream customers as we expand our presence beyond terminals and refineries. We look forward to continuing our support of the South Texas market and other ports around the Gulf.”
