GenCrowd (http://www.gencrowd.com) today announced the launch of its new service for crowdsourced business needs, including ideas, feedback, and market research, primarily targeted towards entrepreneurs and small businesses. Now, people can post a problem about any aspect related to their business, set their own price and preferences, and get solutions from a carefully vetted group of creatives known as “Contributors”.

“The volume of work that startups have to do, atleast initially – from idea brainstorming and validation, brand naming, tagline and slogan generation, logo design, web design and development, content and copywriting, all the way down to website and usability testing, SEO and marketing, analytics research, customer service, and a whole bunch of other issues – can take a real toll on people and businesses alike,” said Barun Rath, founder of GenCrowd. “Going through the steps, GenCrowd was conceptualized from these issues that we personally faced when starting a business - we were looking for resources to provide us with different ideas and perspectives on different aspects regarding the business we were working on at the time. And so, the idea behind GenCrowd was formed – an online marketplace allowing people to crowdsource ideas, content, and feedback for their business needs.”

To get started, the user provides a brief about his problem, sets an award value for a solution, as well as the number of solutions from different Contributors that he wants to receive for his problem. He has the option to restrict solutions based on word length, location, and ratings, along with other custom rules. He may also choose his preferences regarding content privacy, i.e. “Blind” listings, “Private” listings, and “Invitation-only” listings.

Using the “Blind listing” feature will mean that all of the solutions provided for a problem will only be visible to the solution seeker, and will be hidden from the other users – the Contributors will only be able to see the solution (if any) they themselves have posted for the problem. One important thing that this helps ensure is, the Contributors won’t be able to look up one another’s solutions - resulting in complete originality in every solution provided for a problem. By using the “Private listings” feature, the details for a problem will be hidden from search engines as well as from the general public. Only the site community will be able to review the problem – this helps protect the problem details from being visible to just anyone. Selecting the “Invitation-only” feature will allow the solution seeker to personally review and invite “Contributors” to view their problem details, and provide solutions for the same.

Irrespective of how much a user decides to spend on his problem, GenCrowd backs up their service with their Money Back Guarantee – the user gets his money back if he is not satisfied with the results. After the user has paid for and submitted the problem, he will start receiving solutions from the Contributors, and will receive atleast the number of solutions that he has paid for. If the user doesn’t like a solution, he may reject it and it will get replaced by another solution by a different Contributor, and so on, until the user accepts the number of solutions that he has paid for.

“Our Mantra is simple – connecting people with resources that can help them start and build their own businesses,” said Prateek Panda, who looks into Business Development at GenCrowd. “In this case, our resources are powered by our Contributors - to help startups and small businesses get individual, unique ideas, feedback and perspectives for their business, and to develop an excellent product or service in the process without expending a lot of time and money in brainstorming, prototyping, and iterating.”

Within a week of its launch, GenCrowd has gained strong growth momentum with its users, and has already taken in more than fifty Contributors. With the concept of crowdsourcing picking up by the day, it will be exciting to see how they shape up in their efforts to stand out and make a noticeable impact in this industry.
