I saw a report that said that if every builder bought just 5% more materials from American companies, it would create 220,000 jobs.

East Bay general contractor, Mara Construction cares about the current state of the country, and does what it can to help the economy by utilizing more American-made products on his jobs.

“I saw a report that said that if every builder bought just 5% more materials from American companies, it would create 220,000 jobs,” said company president, Anthony Maramonte. “That really got my attention. We already try to ‘Buy American’ as much as possible, but will now really make the extra effort to increase that by 5%. Who isn’t concerned about the state of the American economy these days?” he asked.

“Mara Construction is a ‘green company,’ by which I mean, in addition to home additions, building decks, retaining walls, outdoor BBQs, concrete countertops, foundation repair, kitchen remodeling, bath remodeling, and sheetrock repair, we install green light fixtures, green oriental denim material, affordable eco-friendly systems throughout the house, water catches, and generally try to be conscious of environmental affects,” Tony explained.

“As a remodeling contractor, we get a chance to reverse the environmental damage done before people knew about such things,” Mr. Maramonte explained. “That gives me a great deal of satisfaction. But just as important is our ‘economic environment.’ I printed out a list of all the American vendors we can use, and share it freely with everyone I know. The only way we are going to move forward as a country is for everyone to act together,” he said.
“Best of all, it does not cost more to ‘Buy American.’ While some products, such as nails and steel, may run a little more than the Chinese versions of those products, overall the difference is only 1% or 2% more,” Mr. Maramonte said.
