“We are deeply grateful for GeoArt’s commitment to sustainability and are thrilled that they are donating a portion of the proceeds from these unique, wearable pieces of art.

Collaborating with Cynthia Gale for four years now, the “Learn It, Grow It, Eat It” program provides paid internship opportunities for High School students, involving them with the green movement, their communities, and educating them about nutrition. The kids learn to grow their own food in community gardens, sell their vegetables at greenmarkets throughout the city and are educated about healthy eating and living. Inspired by the gardens created by GrowNYC, Cynthia Gale chose to incorporate the dragonfly, flora and fauna into the subtle elegance of the jewelry. Mother of Pearl pendants featuring dangling pink pearls bring out the pink lustre in the pearl, and hang on an 18” length white pearl and sterling silver strand.
Speaking of her inspiration for Orient Fleur, Cynthia Gale says, “One of the key design motifs in this organic, nature-inspired collection is the dragonfly. The dragonfly symbolizes change, especially as it relates to mental and emotional maturity. Having spent time with some of the teens from the ‘Learn It, Grow It, Eat It’ program, I know they are experiencing meaningful, lasting change in their lives. LGE enhances their discovery of the benefits of healthy eating through hands-on training and exposure to nature. It brings me great pleasure to pledge a portion of the proceeds from Orient Fleur 2011 sales in support of this amazing GrowNYC initiative!"
Regarding the collaboration with GeoArt by Cynthia Gale, Marcel Van Ooyen, Executive Director of GrowNYC, says, “We are deeply grateful for GeoArt’s commitment to sustainability and are thrilled that they are donating a portion of the proceeds from these unique, wearable pieces of art. Cynthia’s jewelry are symbols of GrowNYC’s efforts to teach the next generation about where their food comes from and how the simple act of eating can improve your health and the health of the environment.”
