Criminals and troublemakers need to be shown that the things they do are really not worth doing,” he says. “If more people had the desires of James Clifton, the world would be much safer and better off.”

In “The Green Phantasm” (published by AuthorHouse), George Robert Coates’ new superhero novel, readers are taken on an exciting adventure in the world of a crime fighter who exemplifies the idea that true heroism is definitely the best way to go.
James Paul Clifton is the man behind the mask of the superhero called the Green Phantasm, a superhero who uses his supernatural abilities to protect the innocent citizens of Philadelphia. Eventually, the Green Phantasm crosses paths with X-Termination, an evil organization headed by Doctor XT, and he must work furiously to put them out of business before they take him down. As the final showdown between hero and villain draws closer, the Green Phantasm must protect, and eventually rescue, Amanda Taylor, a woman who gets caught up in the middle of the clash between good and evil.
An excerpt from “The Green Phantasm”:
“Somehow or another, I intend to put those freaks away in prison, where they need to be. But until then, they will eliminate, destroy, and completely devastate anyone or anything that gets in their way. Until either myself or someone finally shuts down their business, no one around here is safe.”
Coates points out that his book is unique in that it takes the idea of a superhero – normally relegated to the pages of comic books or to big screen adaptations – and puts it into a full-length novel. “Criminals and troublemakers need to be shown that the things they do are really not worth doing,” he says. “If more people had the desires of James Clifton, the world would be much safer and better off.”
