“Get In The Game” introduced new contractor resource portal.

Personally, I think the Learning Series Seminars were the best part of the program.

Jim Latto with DBA Construction Inc., Phoenix, was named Grand Prize Winner in “Get In The Game,” an online promotion sponsored by Arizona Caterpillar dealer Empire Southwest. Latto accrued the most points during the promotion, which was staged to introduce contractors to Empire’s new Contractor Portal (http://www.empirecat.com/portal). The Portal offers a variety of information and resources to support owners and operators of small, medium-sized and heavy new and used heavy equipment.

Empire President and CEO Jeff Whiteman personally delivered Latto’s prize package in a surprise visit Jan. 9, 2012 to his office at DBA Construction, a Phoenix-based excavating and earthmoving contractor.

“Get In The Game” players earned points for joining and visiting the Portal, which offers a variety of benefits including free Learning Series Seminars, business support information, access to Caterpillar product manuals, links to industry associations, discounts, specials and giveaways, and more. Points were awarded for attending a Learning Series Seminar, participating in surveys, following Empire on Twitter and Facebook, and subscribing to Empire’s YouTube channel.

The Learning Series Seminars – one of the promotion’s most popular features – will be offered again in 2012. In addition, the Portal will be expanded in the future to provide members with convenient access to many of Empire’s support systems. Users will have direct access to schedule service, seek support and advice from technical communicators, chat online with client service specialists, receive discounts on popular products and services, and more.

“It was fun to participate in ‘Get In The Game,’ and it is great to win!” remarked Latto. “Personally, I think the Learning Series Seminars were the best part of the program. I knew we could gain some insight from the Load Securement class, so I brought four people with me. A couple of people from our shop attended the Machine Maintenance seminar with me, and we all learned from it. A co-worker who attended the Tax Depreciation class said it was very worthwhile. It’s great to have this kind of support from Empire, and I look forward to what will be offered in 2012.”
