GetApp.com and CloudShare launch the first cloud-based customizable online demos and trials to help buyers make good business software choices and ISVs to lower their client-acquisition cost

GetApp.com has partnered with Cloudshare to provide all its premium-listed software vendors clients a "hassle-free" way to give prospective buyers the ability to see their application perform in a live environment. Directly from a listing, prospects will be able to click on a "Try IT Now" button that triggers a request to test the desired application in a dedicated IT environment.

Until today, only SaaS vendors have had the ability to easily offer online sales demos and proofs of concept (POCs) of their application. For business software delivered on-premises or as virtual appliances, the pre-sales phase often requires costly and time-consuming tasks such as setting up a dedicated server, copying gigabytes of software or shipping machines and people to the prospective client's offices.

“CloudShare is already in use by Fortune 500 software sales engineers that use IT as a Service (ITaS) to provide end-users with instant access to their own copy of an IT environment,” said Kevin Epstein, VP of Marketing at CloudShare. “The availability of our solution in a portal, such as GetApp.com, is a great way to increase our reach and opens up new sales efficiency opportunities for smaller sized independent software vendors (ISVs).”

The first implementation of this solution has been realized with Arkeia Software, a tier-one provider of network backup solutions for heterogeneous and virtualized environments.

"The process to set up a full proof-of-concept can be lengthy and costly. Enterprise prospects want to see the solution running in their own environment before buying" said Frederic Renard, EMEA General Manager at Arkeia Software. "The combination of GetApp.com and CloudShare promises to help us present our product capabilities quickly and persuasively, making it a very compelling proposition."

This new capability will deliver key benefits to software buyers and vendors, including:

  •      Improved software selection process: businesses, specifically SMBs, can now instantly compare and test new applications in their own individual dedicated IT environments
  •      Marked sales velocity and cost savings for ISVs: CloudShare’s enterprise customers, such as Cisco, VMWare and SAP, have seen sales cycles accelerated by months and pre-sales costs reduced by 30 to 50 percent
  •      Lead nurturing management: better visibility into the sales cycle by knowing who is using what, when and for how long

"GetApp.com wants to go beyond traditional directories by using new technologies to offer useful functionalities to software buyers and vendors. This announcement is the first of many innovations dedicated to helping buyers make good software choices and enabling ISVs to lower their client-acquisition cost", said Christophe Primault, co-founder of GetApp.com.
