Brooklyn Academy Roots is now offering a mommy and me fitness class on every third Sunday of the month for moms with new babies to get back into shape. Light to moderate core exercises for mom are taught along with postural alignment so that moms can start to feel stronger and more fit immediately.
Getting back into shape after pregnancy can be challenging and overwhelming. Giving birth is a physically traumatic experience and a lack of understanding about how the core works for functional movement can be scary for new moms or for women new to exercise. Brooklyn Academy Roots bridges this gap for women to again feel in command of their bodies after pregnancy.
Last year, Brooklyn Academy Roots created an iphone app Pregnant and FIT! for women to safely exercise while pregnant. This app can also be applied to post pregnancy exercise so that women can gently begin to exercise again after their doctors give them the go ahead.
