Imagine Learning Names Glen Mella as New Board Chairman

Glen Mella, who has overseen numerous successful tech startups, has been named the new chairman of the board of directors for educational software company Imagine Learning.

Educational software company Imagine Learning has named Glen Mella as the new chairman of its board of directors. Mella is CEO and co-founder of Cypher, a Utah-based software startup developing solutions for the telecommunications, entertainment, healthcare, and security industries.

“We are fortunate to have Glen Mella chair our board of directors,” said Susan Preator, CEO of Imagine Learning. “Glen has successfully helped several technology companies realize their potential, and we plan to lean heavily on his experience and insight as we steer our company toward future success.”

Mella brings experience in product management, consumer retail and online channels, international distribution, global marketing communications, and building high-impact leadership teams in fast-growing organizations. He has helped raise $200 million in venture capital for several successful tech companies from Silicon Valley to Seattle to Salt Lake City. He has also recruited top executives from leading firms such as HP, DIRECTV, Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Sony and others.

“I’m thrilled to be involved with an organization like Imagine Learning,” said Mella, who has sat on the company’s board for the majority of its 8-year history. “I have a passion for technology, and to see technology having such a positive impact in the education of young students is incredibly rewarding.”

Mella holds an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School and a BS degree from Brigham Young University. He has also served as a trustee for the Utah Technology Council and as chair of the UTC’s CEO peer-to-peer forum.
