Global Compliance, the leading global provider of comprehensive and integrated ethics and compliance solutions, is launching a series of new online training courses that will help organizations deal with an increasingly technologically savvy, fast-paced and global work environment. The first course in this series – which focuses on Social Media and the Workplace – has been designed to help organizations and employees define the values and rules that govern their use of social media and how it impacts confidential information, intellectual property rights and ethical workplace behavior.

As social media flourishes, organizations increasingly find themselves vulnerable to employee use during business hours. According to Awareness, Inc, a social media marketing agency, more than 75 percent of employees are already using social networking sites such as Facebook®, Twitter® and LinkedIn® for business purposes, up from 15 percent in 2007. Organizations are putting their brand, reputation, bottom line and their employees at risk if they do not have a social media policy in place and an educated workforce who understand the do's and don'ts of proper social media use during and after work hours.

"Social media is a reality in the workplace and our clients need tools to minimize their risk and protect their organizations from costly compliance issues," said Jeff Angtuaco, vice president of Training & Education at Global Compliance. "The risks are real. According to Proofpoint, an Internet security firm, 20 percent of companies have already reported investigating employees who had posted confidential, proprietary information on social networks and 8 percent have terminated employees for violations using social media."

The new ethics and compliance training courses in the Global Compliance series cover careful business communications in a Web-connected workplace. Courses also cover ethical leadership, harassment prevention, and global policy issues such as data privacy, anti-corruption and financial integrity. Each course is designed to be less than 30 minutes, interactive and capable of being bundled to create a custom Code of Conduct training course.

Created in-house with content authored by Global Compliance experts, including former U.S. Department of Justice and employment law attorneys, the new suite of online training courses are designed to be 508 compliant, making them accessible for people with disabilities. Each course will feature the new Global Compliance Virtual 360o creative platform which allows ultimate flexibility for organizations to tailor the course visuals quickly and cost-effectively. Courses are also offered in multiple languages to meet the needs of the global marketplace and Global Compliance’s existing client base which covers over 25 million employees in over 200 countries and territories.

"Global Compliance is committed to investing in our training library as part of a comprehensive ethics and compliance program which meets the standards set by the U.S. Federal Sentencing Guidelines," said Jeff Angtuaco. "Ethics and compliance training is one of the seven core elements recommended by the Guidelines and is also one of the core pillars of our Global Compliance® Complete solution. By offering a full complement of courses which address a diverse range of topics, we can empower our clients to exceed expectations for ethical and compliant business practices."
