Delegates Invited to Experience the Top-Rated U.S. Spa’s Innovative, Award-Winning Programming and Brand-New “Life in Balance Spa” – While Extending Their Networking Experience

With the 2012 Summit theme of ‘Innovation through Imagination,’ Miraval is a very fitting delegate destination.

The Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS), the leading annual event for spa and wellness industry executives, today shared details about the very special pre- and post-Summit retreats available to 2012 delegates at world renowned destination spa, Miraval, in Tucson, Arizona.

The sixth annual Summit will be held in Aspen, Colorado from June 3-6, 2012. And each year the conference ensures that industry leaders, traveling from across the world to attend, can experience the finest spa/wellness destinations the host country has to offer, while also extending their networking and educational experiences beyond the formal event. Pre-Summit (May 31-June 3) and Post-Summit (after June 6), delegates can take advantage of very special rates at Miraval, and sample their robust, creative menu of offerings - while also being some of the first in the world to experience the all-new Miraval Life in Balance Spa with Clarins, which will have opened just weeks before.

"We are thrilled to welcome the leaders and innovators in the spa and wellness industries to Miraval. This year's Summit coincides with a transformative moment for us, as we’re unveiling our new Miraval Life in Balance Spa in May," said Michael Tompkins, President & General Manager of Miraval Resort & Spa. "With the 2012 Summit theme of ‘Innovation through Imagination,’ Miraval is a very fitting delegate destination. We’ve been known for innovation throughout our sixteen year history, and our new spa sets the stage for the spa of tomorrow without losing our governing tenets of mindfulness and balance."

The Miraval Experience:

Miraval Resort & Spa is situated on 400 idyllic acres near Tucson’s Santa Catalina Mountains, and has won countless awards since it opened in 1995, including being consistently rated the #1 destination spa by Travel + Leisure, SpaFinder and Condé Nast Traveler. With a menu revolving around a vast array of “Clue-In”™ self-discovery, wellness and mind-body experiences - and “Chill-Out”™ spa services - Miraval’s rich offerings span a state-of-the art health club; a tri-level pool with waterfalls; hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, tennis, golf and other outdoor activities; and an extensive slate of fitness, yoga, Pilates, meditation, cooking and creative learning and wellness classes from leading experts and practitioners. Delegates will also engage with several high-profile speakers from the 2012 GSWS that will be attending the Pre-Summit Miraval retreat.

Known as one of the most innovative spas in the world (that pioneered everything from a mindfulness focus to hot stone massages), delegates can immerse themselves in signature, famed Miraval offerings including their Purple Sage Ranch “Equine Experience,” the many on-site adventure/challenge courses, and Fusion Services like Spirit Flight and Qi Journey. A host of cutting-edge new offerings, ranging from their multi-sensory Taiz Sensorium therapeutic technology, to their new Naga Thai massage (using silk scarves suspended from pulleys), can also be explored. If American TV celebrity Oprah gave Miraval powerful global exposure when she declared it her favorite place (and taped numerous episodes there), the resort’s recent partnerships with integrative health visionaries like Dr. Andrew Weil has cemented its status as one of the world’s premier well-being destinations.

New Life in Balance Spa: Retreat participants will experience Miraval’s just-opened New Life in Balance Spa, created in partnership with French skincare/spa powerhouse, Clarins. With a bold focus on sustainability, minimalism, and the spa’s connection to the earth, delegates will sample this new spa (which seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor relaxation spaces), and its thirty, very unique treatments forged in partnership with Clarins.

“For six years the Summit has been re-imagining what a modern ‘industry conference’ could be: from allowing delegates to shape the agenda – to mandating that all selling and self-promotion be checked at the door – to putting as much emphasis on the high-quality ‘official’ curriculum as the daily schedule of more informal, but equally important, networking and relationship-building experiences,” said Susie Ellis, GSWS Board Member. “The Pre-Summit retreat at Miraval is really an opportunity of a lifetime: delegates can not only experience this extraordinary destination at an incredible price, it’s the perfect environment to build up to the 2012 agenda in Aspen: sparking much-needed industry innovation through imagination.”

Program Details: Miraval is offering delegates registered for the 2012 GSWS an all-inclusive rate of $329 per person, per night (single or double occupancy) - roughly half the regular per-night price. Included are: three nights luxury accommodations; all breakfasts, lunches, dinners, hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic beverages; unlimited activities, programs and lectures; shared round-trip airport transfers; a $150 resort credit per person; and a 10% discount on additional spa treatments. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For those that can’t attend the main Pre-Summit gathering, these rates will be honored post-Summit.
