We created the Goby iPhone app to help people find things to do and inspire them to try new experiences.

Goby.com(pronounced GO-be), the activity search engine that helps people find things to do with their free time, has gone mobile with the launch of its free iPhone application.
Goby’s location-aware iPhone application allows users to quickly and easily find nearby activities, make weekend plans or explore a new location with just three taps. Goby has over four million unique things to do across 350 categories, ranging from local festivals and events to hiking trails, beaches, restaurants, theaters and even playgrounds. Goby covers every town and city in the United States, providing a rich set of listings and an interactive map for every category. Activities can be selected in a single tap, and specific details including descriptions, reviews and photos appear. Goby makes finding the right adventure a snap.
Not only does Goby understand where a user is, but it also understands a new dimension to mobile search – time. Finding out what’s happening now, this weekend or even on the 4th of July is quick and easy. With one more tap, users can share activities with friends via social sites such as Facebook and Twitter, creating an easy way to share plans and receive recommendations.
“We created Goby to help people find the things they want to do and inspire them to try new experiences,” said Mark Watkins, CEO and co-founder of Goby. “This app gives them the power to spontaneously find fun, anytime, anywhere and share it with their friends. Our users want to get the most out of their free time and the Goby iPhone app was built to do that.”
Launched in October, Goby’s “What, When and Where” search engine has helped hundreds of thousands of people across the country cure their boredom blues. Goby is currently working on applications for other smartphone platforms, which will be rolled out later this year. The iPhone application can be downloaded from iTunes.
Goby (http://www.goby.com) is a search engine focused on exploring new things to do with your free time, from taking a unique vacation to creating this weekend’s adventure. Rather than hopping from site to site, trying to make sense of it all, you simply tell Goby What, Where and When and we surface the best results the Web has to offer, organized in a way that’s easy to understand and use. Launched in 2009 and based in Boston, Goby is a privately held company whose investors include Flybridge Capital Partners and Kepha Partners.
