The “Number 1 Childcare Franchise in the U.S.,” Goddard Systems, Inc. (GSI), franchisor of The Goddard School©, has been recognized as a World-Class franchise for 2012 by The Franchise Research Institute. GSI is listed at No. 15.

“We are proud of this announcement, as it further supports our franchise development efforts,” said Tony Padulo, Vice President of Franchise Development. “The validation of our franchisees, coupled with steady growth throughout an extremely challenging economic climate has helped us maintain strong recognition within the franchise community.”

The Franchise Institute’s rankings are based upon independent, third-party research conducted with the companies' franchisees. In its tenth year of providing franchise research, the Institute contacts every franchisee and guarantees their complete confidentiality.

The Institute identifies and recognizes excellence. Jeff Johnson, founder of The Franchise Research Institute/FranSurvey, states, "There are a number of 'Best Franchise' lists published each year, but we recognize excellence by asking current franchisees to rate their experience as franchise owners, using solid, scientific research methodology."

The companies recognized must receive high scores in areas such as opening support, communication between franchisor and franchisees, initial and ongoing training provided to franchisees, product/service quality, and a dedication to overall company excellence. Additionally, to be ranked, franchisors must:

  •     Establish realistic expectations with candidates and then consistently meet or exceed these expectations
  •     Be very selective and only offer franchises to individuals that meet the "success profile" for their franchise
  •     Successfully transfer "franchise owner knowledge" to new franchises
  •     Provide ongoing training and support to existing franchisees
  •     Communicate with consistent clarity, and include franchisees in major decisions
  •     Offer an acceptable ROI for both the franchisor and the franchisee

Throughout 2011, GSI was able to continue opening new schools in new territories by following the above standards along with creating a “best in class” financing program designed to help a wider-scope of would-be franchisees go into business for themselves while also aiding existing franchisees’ hopes of opening another school.

“This economy has taught us a lot of lessons,” Padulo said, noting that GSI awarded 29 new locations throughout 2011. “However, of those lessons, we know we need to think harder and smarter because slower growth is not an option when demand is present. To combat financing limitations, we needed to reinvent our process to be more productive toward more franchisees.”
