Saturday 12 April saw local DIY retailer Godfrey celebrate 25 successful years of trading in East Anglia as the family-run business hosted a birthday party at its Norwich store on Riverside Road to thank its customers for a quarter of a century of support.
With Linda Barker on hand to help toast the occasion, Godfrey customers enjoyed birthday cake and bubbly with Linda, a spectacular balloon release and a heartfelt thank you speech from Barry Godfrey, Godfrey DIY's Managing Director.
Godfrey has always been a family-run business and three generations were present on the day to celebrate the company's latest landmark. Barry Godfrey, managing director of Godfrey DIY, said: "It's a great honour to reach our 25th birthday and lovely to be able to treat our customers to a celebration to say thank you. Our customers are very loyal and in the face of increased competition from the multiples, they continue to shop at Godfrey, pleased with the style at affordable prices which we offer."
As a special thank you to customers, Linda Barker was in store to personally meet customers and answer their home interiors questions and offer one-to-one style advice, while a balloon modeller and face painter kept the children entertained.
Bill Godfrey, Barry's father, concludes: "It was marvelous to be able to celebrate such an occasion with the support of our very loyal customers and our dedicated staff. Throughout the past 25 years, the competitive intensity of our sector has constantly been increasing, and we have always risen to that challenge. Our customers have seen our business change and adapt over those years, but have also seen us stay focused on offering great value, and also superior service to that on offer at our multiple competitors".
