The 52-mile virtual relay race has started on GoGazella.com, a social networking website for distance runners, and will last until the end of June with prizes in various categories.

GoGazella.com has launched a new way for marathon runners to compete and enjoy the satisfaction of their road race accomplishments. The Virtual Marathon Relay has just launched and will last until June 30th, 2012. The virtual race is a 52-mile relay with participants creating a team of two to six runners. To enter the race, a runner needs to complete any road race, from 5k to marathon, between April 1st and June 30th, 2012. The race is free to enter. Runners just needs to submit their race time and provide a link to a website that verifies their time.

Teams will compete in multiple categories such as Marathon Only, Women Only, etc. Prizes will be given out to the winning teams as well as random teams with in-race prize giveaways. A sample of the prize sponsors include, Road Runner Sports, Halo Headbands, Honey Stinger, NaturaStride, Go Sport ID, Natural Running Store, Knog, and Allied Medal Displays.
