Democracy Institute’s Los Angeles Summit
LOS ANGELES (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) November 3, 2007 --
Evan Schumacher, CEO of Going.com, the destination site and community
for 20-somethings who want to know what’s
happening in their cities, will be joining a group of well-respected
leaders to educate, engage and empower emerging young leaders at the
American Democracy Institute’s Empower Change
Summit this Saturday November 3rd. The conference, which will take place
in UCLA’s Royce Hall from 9:30 to 3:30 PM,
promises to inspire and educate its young participants to empower
individuals, communities and change.
Mr. Schumacher will be participating in the “Using
New and Emerging Media Panel” at 1:30 PM on
Saturday, along with co-panelists Roy Sekoff, Founding Editor of the
Huffington Post, and Angela Sun, Correspondent and Producer for Current
TV. The panel will focus on how the Internet’s
creative application has revolutionized US politics through grassroots
movements. Evan and his co-panelists will highlight the various media
outlets, such as Going.com, that can be used to effect positive change
through online tools that can communicate socially conscious messages.
Evan’s company, Going.com, has been expanding
its event-based, social community to provide more than just
entertainment for its users. While Going.com has long been a proponent
of social causes and non-profits, the company is focusing more and more
on acting as a platform for charitable causes. Craigslist Foundation,
Project Ahimsa, NY Cares are just a few of the non-profits who have
utilized Going.com to spread their message and empower change. Going.com
plans to continue to expand this aspect of its community in 2008.

former President of the United States, will, along with Evan, be joined

About The American Democracy Institute
The American Democracy Institute (ADI) is dedicated to engaging,
educating and empowering a new generation of Americans that will expand
the circle of opportunity, equality and justice. The American Democracy
Institute was founded on the belief that given the opportunity,
information and resources, young people can be a powerful force for
social and political change in our democracy. ADI is a nonpartisan
501(c)(3) organization comprised of a network of young leaders and
activists from various fields including business, academia, nonprofit,
government and more. We strive to expand this network by educating and
engaging young people to become more aware of the issues and ideas that
affect their lives. Through our live programs and online content, we are
creating meaningful opportunities for traditionally non-participating
individuals as well as underrepresented communities to learn about the
issues that impact their future and highlight opportunities to
participate in the democratic process.
