Macro Golf, a Virginia company which developed and markets the innovative Macro Square Stroke® putters and grips, (http://www.macrogolf.com) introduces PowerStroke ™, (http://www.macrogolf.com/PowerStroke.php) a patented full swing golf grip designed with greatly enhanced wrist-hinge flexibility to bring the consistency and power of a true "One Plane" swing to players at all skill levels.

PowerStroke's unique design makes the One Plane swing a reality by eliminating the swing arc aberration caused by the Fulcrum Effect: The unintended, undesirable lifting movement of the club head during a golf swing caused by the variation in hand grip pressure, exerted throughout the swing, on the tapered shape of standard, conventional golf grips.

The patented, three-tiered design of PowerStroke is a new, USGA conforming grip with a comfortable ergonomic shape that provides measurably greater tension free swing wrist extension than conventional golf grips. With its superior wrist-hinge flexibility, the PowerStroke grip keeps the club shaft parallel and in one plane with the forearms at address in direct contrast to the prominent address/set-up "wrist angle" created by the tapered shape of conventional golf grips.

Grasped firmly in the hands, conventionally tapered grips form an angle at the wrist hinge (the Fulcrum Effect) placing the club shaft and the forearms in two distinct planes. The firmer the grasp of the non-dominant "left" hand on a conventional grip, the larger the wrist-hinge angle. In addition, during the golf swing with a conventional grip, re-gripping from the usual milder finger pressure of set-up/address to the firmer grip of impact often occurs, further triggering the fulcrum effect and the undesirable swing arc variation it causes.

In short, the patented shape of PowerStroke creates a full tension free wrist extension that places the club shaft and forearms in a single plane at address/set-up; the same one plane in which they travel, without deviation, throughout the rest of the swing event.

"We are convinced that PowerStroke's dramatically increased tension free wrist hinge flexibility over conventional grips will greatly enhance the ability of all golfers to see improvement tee to green" said Dr. Richard Ferris, Macro Golf's President.

Dr. Ferris cited the areas of the golf swing where the PowerStroke design concept would have the most impact:

  • Promote the full tension free extension of a repeatable "One Plane" set-up and swing
  • Promote the smooth wrist cock transition "at the top"
  • Promote a more powerful, resistance free full extension through release and impact
  • Promote a more uniform hand grip pressure from set-up through impact
  • Eliminate swing event spine angle changes and mid-swing "re-gripping".

On their website http://www.macrogolf.com/PowerStroke/php Macro terms their patented, USGA conforming three tiered grip design as "The Shape that works". The site provides a detailed description of each design embodiment and how they come together to make a substantive improvement on the traditional shape of conventional grips, and on the golfer's actual physical ability to make and control an efficient, repeatable golf swing. The Macro site also has a more detailed description of the fulcrum effect, its cause and effect.

The Macro PowerStroke available to try at the will be at the PGA Equipment Show Demo Day in Orlando, Florida on January 28th.

PowerStroke grips are now available for purchase at the Macro Golf website at http://www.macrogolf.com.
