Goodwill’s new outlet store will open in Catawba County on Wednesday, September 14 at 8 a.m. at 835 West Conover Boulevard, Conover (behind Subway in Catawba Village Shopping Center). This new location is essentially three stores in one - an outlet store, a computer store and a furniture store. The outlet offers a unique “buy-the-pound” shopping experience with items priced from just 59 cents to $1.10 per pound. Shoppers can find clothing, housewares, accessories, toys, glassware, dishware, books and more at bargain prices. The store will also offer a selection of computers from our award-winning RECONNECT computer recycling program as well as a large collection of new and gently used furniture.
Store staff, local officials and members of Goodwill executive management will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony at 8 a.m. on Wednesday September 14. Revenue generated from the sale of donated items funds career development and training programs that help people find jobs and reach financial stability. Locally, these services are offered free of charge at Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center located at 413 Thornburg Dr and the Career Connections Center, in partnership with Catawba County JobLink, at 3301 Hwy 70 East in Newton.
”Our outlet stores have been quite successful in this economy,” said Jaymie Eichorn, Goodwill VP of Marketing. “People are really trying to get the most for their money and the outlets and our outlets offer really great deals on all kinds of items. Plus, the outlets help give a second life to gently used items and extend our mission of recycling.”
The Conover Goodwill Outlet Store will be open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:00-6:00 p.m.In addition to this new location, Goodwill operates two stores in Hickory and one each in Statesville, Lenoir, Wilkesboro Elkin, Yadkinville and Boone.
