Pearson Education Announces Google Web
Toolkit Conference
World Class Speakers Include GWT
Creators and Leading Developers
UPPER SADDLE RIVER, N.J. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) June 11, 2007 --
Pearson Education today announced the plan for a dedicated conference
for the Google Web Toolkit™ (GWT) community, Voices
That Matter: Google Web Toolkit Conference, December 4-6, 2007, in
San Francisco. The conference will bring together the team from Google
that created and continues to develop GWT, as well as open source
contributors and multi skill-leveled developers from around the world.
Google Web Toolkit™ (GWT) (http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/)
makes it easier for developers to build web applications. With GWT,
users can develop and debug AJAX applications in the Java language
using their choice of Java development tools. The GWT compiler
translates Java applications to browser-compliant JavaScript and HTML.
Voices That Matter: Google Web Toolkit Conference will be
composed of keynotes and two parallel tracks, one targeted for those
relatively new to GWT and one designed for those with some GWT
experience who want to learn all the ins and outs. Attendees will be
encouraged to contribute to the community by sharing what has worked in
their own real-world development projects. Starting with pre-event
conference calls and including a conference blog and speaker podcasts,
participants will be given a range of opportunities to interact with the
speakers and each other. They will be part of an ongoing conversation
before and beyond the event.
“This conference will help attendees leverage
the very unconventional nature of GWT,” said
Barbara Gavin, manager for the Voices That Matter conference
series. “As its engineering team makes clear:
when there is a choice to be made between ‘easy
for the user’ versus ‘easy
for the developer’, ‘easy
for the user’ always wins. Pearson Education
is honored to create the forum where developers can learn directly from
the global open source community that is living and breathing GWT every
day.”
Voices That Matter is a series of conferences organized and
produced by Pearson to serve its authors and communities, providing
another forum for learning and collaboration. The 2007 conference series
will also include Voices That Matter: Web Design, taking
place October 22-25 in San Francisco. Google is supporting the Voices
That Matter: Google Web Toolkit Conference by providing speakers
from the GWT team.
In early 2007, Prentice Hall published Google Web Toolkit Solutions:
Cool & Useful Stuff (Digital Short Cut), authored by David Geary
(www.informit.com/shortcuts)
and will publish the complete print book version in August 2007. In late
2007, Addison-Wesley will publish “The
Google Web Toolkit”, authored by GWT
creators Bruce Johnson and Joel Webber, and “Google
Web Toolkit Applications”, authored by
Ryan Dewsbury. Johnson, Webber, Geary and Dewsbury will be included
among the GWT conference speaker line-up.
