"Our education program does an incredible job of providing students the opportunity to gain field experience and preparing them for the challenges they will face in the workplace."

College of Education students take part in Student Teaching, which is a full-time one semester long assignment that occurs after a student has completed their coursework in their respective program of study. The purpose of Student Teaching is for the candidate to demonstrate mastery of Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards as well as Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium standards.

Students pursuing an education degree are aided in this process by the university's Office of Field Experience, which facilitates the placement of student teachers completing undergraduate degree in education as well as graduate student seeking their masters degree in education.

The College of Education also offers hands on experience through practicum. In order to establish on-going connections between what students learn in their courses, some courses require practicum hours. The university highly encourages students pursuing an education degree to perform their practicum hours in diverse settings. For example, if the practicum hours for one course were performed in a 3rd grade class the practicum hours for the next course will be performed in a 7th or 8th grade class.
