Grantham University is pleased to announce that Sergeant Chad Cagle of Killeen, Texas, was one of eleven members of the U.S. military to receive the LDRSHIP Award from the Imagine America Foundation.

Sgt. Cagle is currently pursuing his Associate of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies and plans to graduate in May 2013. He was nominated for this award by his Student Advisor, Matthew Hull, because despite multiple deployments and life’s twists and turns, Sgt. Cagle has never lost sight of his goal of earning a degree.

In the award application, Matthew stated, “Since Chad’s first deployment with the U.S. Army in 2003, he has spent the better part of four and a half years serving in combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is a testament to his strength and determination that after all of the combat duty, he has put such an emphasis on completing his education.”

The LDRSHIP Award was designed to honor those who have distinguished themselves in the U.S. military as well as in the classroom. Recipients will receive $2,500 in cash grants to use toward college tuition.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants had to attend a college participating in the Imagine America Scholarship and Award Programs and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and at least a 95% attendance record.
