The Great Little Publishing Company (GLPC) is proud to announce its Young Writers Cup Contest. From now through September 15, 2010, writers, elementary school age through high school, are encouraged to submit their poems, short stories and short novels to http://www.greatlittlepublishing.com/young-writers-contest. Every young writer who submits a piece of writing is a winner. Entries will be published, either in an anthology or as an ebook, plus there are progressively bigger prizes. The two grand prize winners will receive an Apple iPod and have their entire book professionally edited and published, both as an ebook and in paperback.

“The first amendment guarantees freedom of speech and this is something we must nurture, especially in our young people,” says Steve Wilcox, sponsor of the GLPC Young Writers Cup Contest. “This contest is all about free speech, so writers can choose whatever subject they want.”

The GLPC Young Writers Cup Contest is open to all people 19 years and younger. Entries must be in by midnight, September 15th, 2010 to http://www.greatlittlepublishing.com/young-writers-contest. The top entry in each category receives the GLPC Young Writers Cup, an Apple iPod, their work printed in ebook and paperback form and promoted throughout North America. Second and third place winners in each category receive a GLPC Certificate of Merit and a $500 and $150 gift certificate respectively, while all others receive the GLPC Certificate of Publication along with a $30 gift certificate. Short-stories, essays, and poetry will be published in an anthology, while full length entries will be published as individual ebooks.

The categories are: 1) short-stories or essays, 2) short-novels, 3) children's books or short graphic novels, and 4) poetry.

Longer works need not be completed in order to enter. Entrants just need to submit a few chapters for short novels and 10 or more pages for short-stories, children's books and graphic novels. To enter, visit http://www.greatlittlepublishing.com/young-writers-contest.

For those who just have a poem or two, they can enter our 'Poet's Only' contest where winner's will have their poems published as part of a poetry collection. Categories are by age group: 5-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16-19. Enter the 'Poet's Only' contest at http://www.greatlittlepublishing.com/poetry-contest.

All entrants must acknowledge that their work is original and previously unpublished. Entrants under 18 must have their parent or guardian enter on their behalf. All published entries will receive royalties on any sales of their published work.
