After being named Community of the Year by the National Home Builders Association in January and now this honor from the local HBA, we are proud that Villebois is recognized as an exceptional community in the Portland metropolitan area as well.
Wilsonville, OR (Vocus) July 20, 2010
Costa Pacific Communities recently announced that its latest community, Villebois located in Wilsonville, Ore., received the 2009 Excellence Award for the Best Development/Site Plan in Green Building by the Home Builders Association (HBA) in Metropolitan Portland.
The latest award in Costa Pacific Communities repertoire exemplifies the master planner and developer’s dedication to building energy-efficient homes that exceed Earth Advantage guidelines. In fact, all three of the developer’s housing products in the Villebois Village Center -- the Les Bois Collection, Carvalho Condominiums and Seville Rows -- have earned the Earth Advantage Platinum designation.
In addition to this prestigious honor, Costa Pacific Communities was recognized in each of the additional award categories -- new construction, remodeling and sales and marketing -- for the homes it constructed in the Villebois Village Center. These awards include:
- Best Single Family Home Attached Under $300,000
- Best Single Family Home Attached $300,000-$500,000
- Best Website by a Builder/Developer/Remodeler -- http://www.costapacific.com
- Best Social Marketing/Internet Campaign
- Ultimate Energy Performance Score without Solar Under 2,000 SF
- Best Certified Home Under 2,000 SF
Each entry was judged based on the following qualifications: aesthetics, general design, budgetary considerations and challenges and obstacles.
“After being named Community of the Year by the National Home Builders Association in January and now this honor from the local HBA, we are proud that Villebois is recognized as an exceptional community in the Portland metropolitan area as well,” says Rudy Kadlub, CEO of Costa Pacific Communities.
Sustainable from the ground up
The Villebois community is a transit-oriented, mixed-use neighborhood unlike any other in the greater Portland, Ore. metropolitan area. Based on the intimacy and character of a traditional European village, Villebois is built on a foundation of sustainability. In its commitment to the environment, Costa Pacific built a rainwater management plan in Villebois, funded in part by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This system filters and redistributes rainwater back into the ground, reducing the amount of pollutants released into the area’s streams and rivers. The rainwater management system also incorporates permeable paving stones, permeable asphalt, retention ponds, rooftop gardens and state-of-the-art bio-retention cells in the community planter beds.
In addition, by redeveloping existing building sites, and recycling up to 90 percent of the buildings that were demolished during the construction process -- Costa Pacific lowered its impact on the natural environment in the Villebois community. The company was also careful to preserve existing trees and open green space as well as incorporate native plants into the landscaping within the Villebois community, further validating its emphasis on environmental-consciousness.
