Countering the bad reputation that is commonly tied with file sharing services, Files4Food launches today 10 Jan 2013 and aims to reverse the "bad rap" by doing something good (feeding a child) whenever a file is shared through its service.

Imagine being able to help feed a child in poverty, all by sharing a file online for work or play. The service is totally free, has no ads and allows for files up to 1GB to be shared, doesn't need any registration and all on the fastest storage network in the world.

File4Food ( is a not for profit initiative by Gridblaze (, a Content Storage Network service that aims to raise a million meals to feed the poorest of the poor in 17 countries around the world. Meals are administered by Food For The Poor (, the largest international relief organization in the US.

The reason for this endeavor was a way to give back to the community and allow the average Joe to do some good without needing to fork out a cent while providing a valuable service that everyone needs (file sharing).

The genesis of Gridblaze came from the difficulty and slow speeds experienced when the company founders tried to share files with clients and customers using other online file sharing services. The founder Mikhail believed that in the spirit of Toms Shoes, and with Gridblaze being in the digital space, it made sense to make a simple one for one gift to share a meal with a child when a file is shared online.

Files4Food was initiated by the team at Gridblaze, however to keep it going, they have reached out to sponsors and partners who will co-pay the meals as they are tallied up each month. These sponsors will be acknowledged on the download page but will not be in the form of an advertisement.

Being powered by Gridblaze's unique Content Storage Network makes this the fastest file sharing service in the world. Files4Food is able to automatically route and store files close to the point of origin, and serve the file from that same locality. In essence, it keeps the file close to the user. This has the benefit to creating extremely high throughput for uploads and downloads for users anywhere in the world with Gridblaze's 15 global storage points.
