Grief is a family and community affair
Strongsville, OH (PRWEB) October 14, 2011
Jardine Funeral Home is offering a very special gift to the community this year. On Monday, November 14, from 6pm - 8:30pm, Jardine's will sponsor a “Handling the Holidays” program to help those who have experienced the death of a loved one.
This program will be held at The Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH, 44136.
“We know that for many families this will be the first holiday season since their loved one died and we know how difficult that can be,” said Crystal Jardine of Jardine Funeral Home. “This program is our way of reaching out to our community and offering some help for handling the holidays and special days throughout the year. You will come away with a sense of hope and some practical tips on how to survive the holiday season." Jardine's feel compelled to help people deal with their grief even after the funeral.
The two-hour program was developed by Darcie D. Sims, Ph.D., President of Grief Inc., a national grief consulting business. Sims, a grief management consultant and author, has been presenting programs on grief issues for more than 25 years. “Handling the Holidays” is designed to provide information about the grieving process and offer practical ideas about how to “get through” the holidays and the special days that occur during the year.
Darcie, a bereaved parent and adult child, brings a special touch to her presentations by combining practical information, compassion and a gentle sense of humor to create a message that is enlightening, educational and entertaining. According to Sims, “People are often hesitant to attend a program on grief because they may fear it will be too painful. However, thousands of grieving people have found relief, useful information and a sense of hope for handling the holidays after attending the program. Family members and friends have also found the program to be useful in helping them understand the grieving process and how to help those they love who are grieving.” “Grief is a family and community affair,” says Sims. “And this is a perfect way for a community to come together to learn how to help one another through one of the most difficult times in the grief journey.”
