Group Mobile, well known for carrying the top brands in rugged laptops, rugged tablet PCs, rugged PDAs, and rugged handheld computers has recently created an In-Field Computing Solution featuring the General Dynamics Itronix GD8000 rugged laptop. The In-Field Computing Solution is ideal for field service and other mobile workers who need a laptop and the essential accessories for working outdoors, in a vehicle, and in other mobile work environments. “We researched several years’ worth of our orders from field workers and professionals to see what they purchased, both initially and over the ensuing weeks (as they often come back for more items to complete their solution). This provided us with the data to develop a ‘get-it-all-with-one-order’ complete solution,” said Richard Lawson, President of Group Mobile. “In addition, we are providing a significant discount on the In-Field Computing Solution bundle. The idea is to make life easier for our customers and offer a tremendous value.”

The GD8000 rugged laptop featured in this bundle has a 320GB shock-mounted hard drive with a heater to provide protection against stress from bumps, drops, shock, vibration, and temperature extremes. The rugged laptop has an Intel® Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz processor, 2GB DDR3 RAM memory, and the Windows® 7 Professional operating system offering speed and performance. Other features of the GD8000 rugged laptop include integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, and Gobi™ 2000 mobile broadband wireless to keep users connected no matter where work takes them. It also has a DVD-RW/CW-RW multi-drive that fits in the laptop's media bay, and PC card and Express card slots allowing for extra storage and other peripheral devices to be connected to the laptop.

The GD8000 office dock enables workers to use the rugged notebook as a desktop computer. The office dock is a 'pass-through' device, providing drop-in convenience with no cables to attach or detach from your laptop. When the notebook is positioned in the dock, the computer's battery is automatically recharged. It includes four USB 2.0 ports, two 9-pin legacy serial ports, an RJ-45 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, a 15-pin external monitor/VGA port, a PS/2 Duplex port, a mono microphone interface, a stereo speaker interface, and a DC-in power port.

The vehicle power supply recharges the battery and provides power to the GD8000, allowing users to work in their car and recharge the batteries while driving. The spare AC adapter offers convenience.

The two-point shoulder strap provides a hands-free carrying option. It has two clips which attach to D-rings on the computer, allowing for easy access to the laptop and comfortable carrying.

Lastly, this mobile computing solution includes the Wenger SYNERGY Swiss Army Computer Backpack, featuring a padded computer pocket, comfort fitting back straps, a music player pocket, air flow back padding, an essentials organizer, a headset port, and a case base stabilizing platform.
