Our focus is on the clients, not the business. They’re the experts. They have the solutions; they are just not aware of them yet. We help them focus on the things that need attention, so that they can be successful and be happy in their lives.

The Growth Coach has expanded its presence in southern New Jersey with the addition of franchise owner John Angelastro, who is offering his services to clients in Cherry Hill, Marlton, Voorhees, Mount Laurel, Merchantville and surrounding communities.
For Angelastro, business and sales coaching was a logical career path after years as a senior level executive. After working his way through college, he climbed the corporate ladder. In doing so, he gained a keen knowledge and understanding of how each department worked most effectively.
“I developed a knack for spotting issues and finding ways to resolve them,” he said.
When his company relocated, the South Jersey native opted to stay put and begin his own security consulting business, but he found consulting “too limiting.”
“I’d start with the security aspect of the job, and then I found myself helping them find solutions for other issues,” he said. “Eventually more and more of them were saying ‘You should be a business coach.’”
That suggestion led him to investigate franchise opportunities because he knew that although he had a “knack” for coaching, he did not have the necessary background in marketing and promotion. After extensive research, he found The Growth Coach resonated with him for its proven process, effective branding and supportive culture.
“I looked at a lot of companies that seemed primarily interested in selling a product,” he said. “I wanted a culture with similar values to my own – one where the goal was to help people.”
Greg Scheingold, president of The Growth Coach, said helping people is an underlying theme for the company’s franchise owners.
“Our owners come from all walks of life with experience in many industries,” he said. “What John and all the rest have in common is the desire to empower business owners to make changes that help grow their companies and provide more balance in their personal life. They know that by helping the owner, they also help their families, their employees, and their communities as a whole. Nothing brings them more satisfaction."
Scheingold added, “By providing our franchise owners with the training, resources and ongoing support they need, we help fuel their success. After all, by coaching the coaches, everybody benefits.”
Indeed that principle influenced Angelastro’s decision to join The Growth Coach.
“During my corporate visit, I had that aha moment when I really understood the value of following the process to help clients think strategically, build their businesses, and have their own aha moments,” he said. “Our focus is on the clients, not the business. They’re the experts. They have the solutions; they are just not aware of them yet. We help them focus on the things that need attention, so that they can be successful and be happy in their lives.”
Scheingold said the Growth Coach process has proved itself time and again.
“Many owners let their businesses run them, rather than the other way around,” he said. “They’re putting in 70-plus hours a week, dealing with petty issues and putting out fires. They’re stuck in a rut – missing something in their lives, maybe jeopardizing their health, undermining their relationships with family and friends. Our goal is to help them pause, learn, and find new ways to grow the business while balancing their lives. With us, they learn how to let the business work for them.”
The Growth Coach uses a proprietary Strategic Mindset® process that lets Angelastro and other owners offer customized services for each client with quarterly workshops, one-on-one sessions, telephone and email coaching, educational retreats, and specialized coaching for managers, sales teams and more.
“I love that we’re able to give each client the tools they need to move forward,” Angelastro said. “One of our biggest contributions is helping business owners see their self-imposed obstacles, their ‘limiting beliefs’ that slow progress. By addressing those, we’re able to change their mindset to focus on goals and develop systems and strategies for achieving them.
“I had one client who put metrics in place to ensure a return on investments. By re-focusing efforts and establishing checks and balances, the firm’s response rate on direct mailings quadrupled.”
Unlike consulting, coaching is not a “one and done” deal, he said, adding that Growth Coach fits with his values.
“I was brought up to be hard-working with a sense of integrity and a commitment to excellence,” he said. “I work with clients for months or years to help them boost their business from $500,000 to a million to $10 million to $100 million or more. The clients decide how far they want to go.”
