1) USS Alabama (Battleship Memorial Park) - Mobile, AL

The USS Alabama was a WWII battleship commissioned in 1942 to help out efforts in the Pacific. In 1965, the battleship was opened to the public as a museum along with several other attractions at Battleship Memorial Park. This museum is highly recommended as it allows guests to tour the entire vessel from top to bottom. There is also WWII planes, tanks, and the USS Drum submarine within the park.

2) WWII Museum - New Orleans, LA

The National WWII Museum in New Orleans is one of the newest and most extensive military museums in the country with three floors of exhibit space. The museum offers personal accounts, artifacts, documents, photographs and original film footage throughout the war. In addition, the museum offers an on-site restaurant and a 4-D film hosted by Tom Hanks that takes viewers through some of the milestones of WWII.    

3) National Naval Aviation Museum - Pensacola, FL

The National Naval Aviation Museum is located within the Pensacola Naval Air Station, which became the nation's first naval air station in 1914. The museum is home to over 150 beautifully restored aircraft representing Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Aviation. The museum offers free guided tours, an IMAX theatre and a flight simulator that is a big hit with the kids.
