Atlantic Film Festival, September 17 - 26: The fourth major film festival in Canada, the international Atlantic Film Festival's strong East Coast roots are evident throughout the many Halifax events, premieres, parties and concerts that make up this 10-day festival. The red carpet is rolled out for some of the best international, Canadian and Atlantic Canadian films, along with showcases featuring great local musicians. DRUM! September 29 - October 4: This powerhouse musical production features 20 musicians, dancers, drummers, and singers representing Nova Scotia's four founding cultures - Aboriginal, Black, Celtic and Acadian. A fusion of music, dance, poetry, video, rhythm, and song explores the musical heartbeat of Nova Scotia, making this an annual highlight of Halifax events.
Halifax Pop Explosion, October 20-24: Since 2000, the Halifax Pop Explosion has celebrated the best of music, art and culture from Halifax, Canada and around the world. This highly-anticipated five-day festival features pop, hip-hop, rock, folk, alt-country, punk and many other genres of music, along with music industry education sessions, a 'zine (fan magazine) fair and gallery exhibitions.
