When Fred approached BuyCostumes.com to see if we were interested in sponsoring him for this year's Pablove Across America ride, without hesitation, we offered to help him reach his goal of $5,000
New Berlin, WI (PRWEB) October 8, 2010
On Saturday, October 16, those following Milwaukee-based designer Fred 'TooMuchMetal' Gillich in the Pablove Across America ride might notice something unusual regarding his cycling attire. Gillich and two other riders on his team will be in costume for the day as a Star Trek crew member, a monkey, and a pirate. The costumes are courtesy of BuyCostumes.com, who will be sponsoring Gillich's team in the Pablove Across America ride with the costumes and a monetary donation to help him reach his fund-raising goal.
"When Fred approached BuyCostumes.com to see if we were interested in sponsoring him for this year's Pablove Across America ride, without hesitation, we offered to help him reach his goal of $5,000" said Jalem Getz, CEO of BUYSEASONS, Inc., the parent company of BuyCostumes.com. "We're more than pleased to help Fred and the Pablove Foundation in their efforts to raise awareness for childhood cancer."
The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz, the son of JoAnn Thrailkill and Jeff Castelaz, who at age six lost his yearlong battle with bilateral Wilms' Tumor, a form of childhood cancer. After losing their son to this devastating disease, JoAnn and Jeff created the Pablove Foundation to raise awareness and money in the fight against childhood cancer and to promote the message "kids get cancer too." As Gillich explained, "The research for kids is underfunded; most families don't have the money to afford the treatments they may or may not need."
Gillich will join the ride on October 15 in Santa Cruz, and he will continue through to its end in Los Angeles on October 21. Gillich's involvement with the event stems from his friendship with Pablo's father Jeff, a Milwaukee native.
Since being funded, the Pablove Foundation has gained national attention for the fight against childhood cancer. This year, the 18 day cross-country bicycle ride, runs October 2-21 from Seattle to Los Angeles. In addition to the ride itself, benefit concerts have also been organized in Los Angeles, Austin and, most recently, in Milwaukee. In 2010, the goal of the Pablove Foundation is to raise $500,000 for the fight against childhood cancer.
