Hammes Company is pleased to announce new leadership for its Real Estate Advisory Services (REAS) group. Ted Carson has been named National Director of REAS for Hammes Company, leading an experienced team that concentrates on the key needs of healthcare providers.

“Today, with ever-increasing pressure on hospitals’ operating margins, it is imperative that healthcare providers include their real estate assets in their expense management initiatives,” Mr. Carson said. “When working with a client, one of our goals is to quickly provide focus to the expense control opportunities that are available to the hospital and to assist them in more strategically assessing and otherwise managing their real estate in a way that is not only efficient and economical but also in alignment with the organization’s long-term strategic plan.”

Mr. Carson has more than 15 years’ experience providing commercial real estate advisory services, working with clients in the healthcare sector as well as other industries. Past clients have ranged from providers like Sparrow Health System, St. Anthony’s Medical Center, Scottsdale Healthcare and Baptist Health System to corporate clients like IBM, Bank of America and Motorola. His significant work with non-healthcare clients complements his healthcare expertise, and has become increasingly valuable as hospitals continue to place greater emphasis on efficiency and cost-effectiveness, while pursuing ambulatory strategies and other emerging initiatives.

“What sets us apart is that we ask our clients to take a look at things that a health system or hospital administration has not always considered historically,” Mr. Carson says. “We analyze how our client is positioned in the marketplace and how their expenses compare to regional, local and our own proprietary metrics and benchmarks. We consider how service delivery and physical space can be streamlined and become more cost-effective. We focus on operational improvement and optimization during the facilities development process. Finally, we consider the all-important financial and capital stewardship impact that exists, and how that can be improved.”
