“As part of a generation that values both flavor and sustainability, I want to make authentic, unfussy, affordable dishes more readily available to the Financial District.”
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 07, 2013
Downtown denizens can finally find a slice of filling Sicilian pizza at Palio Pronto, a new lunchtime spot that is the brainchild of Martino DiGrande, owner of the more upscale Palio D’Asti Italian restaurant in San Francisco’s Financial District. Inspired by single focus food trucks, Palio Pronto is located at 635 Commercial Street between Kearny and Montgomery. Offering takeout and outside patio seating, the casual, cash only eatery is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Hungry workers enjoy a rotating selection of Palio Pronto’s signature pizza, merging Sicilian focaccia with toppings utilizing artisan meats and organic vegetables. Current versions–$5 for a hearty slice–highlight classic Tomato and Mozzarella with Basil, Pork Sausage with Red Pepper, Seasonal Asparagus with Fontina and Thyme and Prosciutto with Artichoke. Fresh Romano Salad with hearts of Romaine, Medjool Dates and Goat Cheese is only $5, as is a refreshing Orange Fennel, Raddichio Salad. Continuing the street food style pricing (tax included) is $3 house made Tiramisu and Cannoli from the owner’s family recipe.
“Speed more than ever is the key to serving the needs of lunchtime diners,” explained DiGrande, the 29- year-old scion of a Sicilian restaurant family who grew up with the pizza featured at Palio Pronto. “As part of a generation that values both flavor and sustainability, I want to make authentic, unfussy, affordable dishes more readily available to the Financial District.”
