The AGROTAIN products used in the research allowed for more forage per acre and significantly cut down on losses caused by volatilization.

The fourth annual Southeast Hay Convention (formerly known as the Hay Production School) will take place March 29-30, 2011, in Macon, Ga., at the main office of the Georgia Farm Bureau. The convention brings together hay producers and researchers from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension for a two day educational session on the “A to Z” of commercial hay production.
An important part of the agenda every year is fertilization practices for hay producers and as Dr. Dennis Hancock, Extension Forage Agronomist, explains in the accompanying YouTube video clip, enhanced efficiency nitrogen fertilizers, especially AGROTAIN, are an important part of a successful hay production program. According to Dr. Hancock, the AGROTAIN products used in the research study allowed for more forage per acre and significantly cut down on losses caused by volatilization. From an environmental standpoint, more of the nitrogen that was applied was able to be recovered leading to very high nitrogen use efficiency.
“We are excited about the nitrogen efficiency research, in hay and forage production, that Dr. Hancock and his colleagues are conducting,” said John Hassell, Manager of Research and Agronomic Development for AGROTAIN International. “This is an important market for the AGROTAIN technology, and we are proud to support the Southeast Hay Convention and its focus on providing hay producers with the invaluable knowledge of the ins and outs of successful commercial hay production.”
The Southeast Hay Convention provides unique training and education for commercial hay growers and is essentially the only program of its kind. The full agenda can be found here:
